Samiha Abdul Aziz Al-Humaidhi

Samiha Al-Humaidhi a member of the board of directors of the Medical Center Holding Company, she began her professional career immediately after graduating from the American University of Beirut, working in the management of major projects financed by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development through loans granted to numerous countries. This work, which required studying projects and infrastructure in the borrowing countries, was a job rarely entrusted to women. Succeeding in this field was a challenge for a Kuwaiti woman, especially since it often required travel to remote and poor countries. However, Ms. Al-Humaidhi, who loves work, faced the challenge with a strong determination.

She says that working for the Fund does not discriminate between men and women. What matters is efficiency and productivity. Therefore, as a woman, she did not face any difficulties that would hinder her career. She adds, “The weapon of knowledge that my father was keen to provide his family members with was the strong foundation for my success in work. This was in addition to his support and that of the entire family throughout all stages of my career.”

Ms. Al-Humaidhi held the position of Director of the Fund’s International Cooperation Department. Her work became linked to international and regional institutions such as the OPEC Fund, the International Development Fund for Africa (IDA), and the International Development Association. This opened up broad horizons of knowledge and experience for her. After ten years of work at the Fund, which she considered years of establishing and consolidating her academic expertise and gaining experience, Ms. Al-Humaidhi moved to work in the investment sector. She joined the Gulf Investment Corporation. She underwent several investment courses that helped her advance successfully in this field she loved.

After a few years, she moved to work as Deputy General Manager of Financial and Economic Studies at the Kuwait Consulting Company, a semi-governmental company. She put her experience in both previous jobs to good use in her new role, and succeeded.

After working in the government and semi-government sectors, Ms. Al-Humaidhi moved to the private sector as a board member of the Medical Center Holding Company and assistant managing director. She also works as a freelancer at her own consulting firm.
